It is evening of my third day in Delhi.
My comfort level has moved beyond our home base apartment to the nearby neighborhoods.
My sense of direction is still intact and was put to the test with a scavenger hunt this afternoon that had us talking to strangers, haggling over prices, boarding the metro.
Yesterday we toured some monuments and bought ourselves traditional clothes to wear to our volunteer placements which start tomorrow.
It is only Monday and I feel like I have been here much longer than that.
I forgot how just moving through an unfamiliar space takes so much energy--constantly taking in information and having to make sense of it.
It is little wonder to me that infants sleep so much. Everything is entirely new and that makes just being awake exhausting.
