After a nice long stretch of warm, sunny days the rain returned today. The garden says, "Yeah!". The girls say, "Boooo!" It's their last day of school and they were suppose to have an all-school picnic outside at lunchtime. Instead they'll be eating at their desks and trying to keep at the end of the school year ya-ya's under control.
But, the garden is delighted and is sucking up those raindrops after soaking in the sunshine this past week. This is my favorite bed right now. Peas and pole beans reaching up the frames while the space between them is filled with greens and leeks.
Our garlic is yellowing which indicates that it's getting close to harvest.
The spinach patch is doing great.
As are the tomatoes.
Ditto for the cukes.
Our strawberry bed looks nice and green. Unfortunately there's no red because something is getting to those berries before we can.
And the herb wall is looking good with thyme, oregano, marjoram, and mint filling in the narrow beds.
The addition this week was a potato plant that we ar experiementing with by growing it in a burlap bag.
We'll see how this goes, with fingers crossed for latkes this winter!
